About Individual Counselling

Counselling is a deeply personal and safe process that can involve talking about what is present for you, working together to unpack, explore and understand your concerns, and providing strategies and tools to work towards mental and emotional wellness. Through therapy, you can learn skills and build inner resources that you will be able to take away with you and use for the rest of your life.

I have a strong interest in integrating holistic and scientific interventions in my work and focus on this by using a family systems lens: as a social worker, I am not diagnosing or wondering “what is wrong with you?” but rather, “what has happened to you?”. My approach also includes using a mix of evidence-based and person-centered therapies, as it is my belief that there is no ‘one size fits all'. It’s also important for me to consider you as one piece of a larger puzzle, made up of family, friends, school, community, culture, and wider society; these all play an important part in your unique experience of the world. You are the expert in your own life, and I believe everything you need can be found within you.

As your therapist, I will work with you to assess the situation, determine goals, and identify steps to build skills and help you reach your goals, produce change, and enhance your quality of life. Counselling can also involve non-verbal ways of communicating. If you do not feel comfortable talking we can explore somatic therapies such as breath work, movement, yoga, mindfulness and meditation. In therapy, I may also work with you to learn about your brain and how it impacts your well-being.

Together we will decide which approach would feel most comfortable and work best for you. Our hope at Healing Herd Therapies is that you will find the opportunity to experience freedom and healing while simultaneously growing mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Zoom & Telephone Counselling

You can currently access a Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan referral from your GP for Telehealth counselling at Healing Herd Therapies.

Healing Herd Therapies provides therapy through a holistic lens. Via video and telephone, I can help support you to create a calming sanctuary in your own home when you engage in therapy with me, for a meaningful and positive experience.

Telehealth is a secure and confidential video conferencing or telephone counselling system that allows clients and therapists to still connect for therapy when they are not able to meet in person. For video sessions, I use a system called Zoom, which can be used on your phone, tablet, laptop, or computer, and does not require any special software.

If connecting through Zoom you will receive a zoom link prior to your session, and payment is directly deposited to Healing Herd Therapies bank account.
